New Year’s Eve parties in Budapest

All around the world the final countdown has started to say goodbye to this year and of course Budapest is no exception. If you happen to spend the last days of 2019 in the beautiful capital of Hungary you may want to know a few hints and tips. New Year’s Eve is called “Silvester” in Hungarian and it is celebrated with food, wine, champagne and parties. Here, we recommend you a few options and places, where you can spend a great night out and welcome the upcoming New Year with joy and happiness.

Street Parties

Every year there are numerous street parties to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Budapest, the most popular ones are at Vörösmarty Square, Oktogon and front of the Nyugati Train Station. Thousands of people gather to celebrate and party together on the last night of the year. If you would like to join them, all you need to do is to grab your friends and a bottle of champagne and wine and the crowd of Budapest will be partying with you. All are welcome and you can walk from one place to the other enjoying different programs, music and of course the magnificent fireworks at midnight. This is one the best ways to leave the old year and welcome 2020.

Bars and Ruin Pubs

If open air parties are not your cup of tea, you can visit the popular ruin pubs such as Doboz, Ankert, Szimpla and Instant among others. There are plenty of ruin pubs in Budapest and they are somewhat iconic attractions of the city. Pub Crawl is preparing a special night for the guest, a guided tour to 3 ruin pubs that includes 9 minutes free drinks sessions, traditional Hungarian Goulash and at the end a big party in Pub Crawl. Durer Kert will hold a goa party “Stop the Time – New Year’s Eve 2019” from 11pm. If you fancy to celebrate NYE at a ruin pub make sure to check their website for entry.

Budapest River Cruise

In case you want to dine somewhere and enjoy and nice show, you can spend the last night of 2019 on the Budapest River Cruise. They are preparing a special night with a gala dinner and then party on the boat. Their offer includes traditional Hungarian dishes, drinks, Gypsy live music and folk show. This is a great opportunity to end 2019 with a pleasant celebration on the cruise. The event starts at 7pm and you need to book your entry in advance.

We hope you will have an unforgettable NYE in Budapest. We wish you a Happy New Year, Happy 2020!
