Healthcare tips for January – be happy!

As the holidays are over, everything is slowly getting back into the swing of things, and, since the days are longer, but basically it is still cold and dark, our mood is not elated. However, the production of several molecules found in the body can help to counteract this effect. Among other things, dopamine plays an important role in movement or motor coordination, motivation, and reward sensitivity (not surprisingly, in the development of addictions as well). Secondly, endorphin contributes to the proper functioning and well-being of the nervous system, moreover, it reduces pain and, according to some studies, slows down aging. What is more, serotonin is produced by both the nervous system and the gastrointestinal tract, and responsible for regulating body temperature, sexuality, sleep, appetite and mood. Because of these effects of the abovementioned molecules, many artificial compounds have been produced over the years – the list includes drugs too. But why should we use synthetic compounds when our own body can produce these as well? And what can we do to raise the levels of these compounds in a natural way? Let’s exercise, dance, laugh, celebrate our success, hug someone, go outside and enjoy nature, create something or enjoy our hobby, eat dark chocolate, make love, sleep, meditate, and be grateful (for example, for January which doesn’t last forever)!
