MUSIC OF BUDAPEST

„Zenélő Budapest” which means „Music of Budapest”

The 5th Musical Budapest takes place between 1 June and 18 August at 16 locations and offers 600 free, open-air concerts. The concerts create a unique atmosphere with the help of both classical and pop music at locations loved by city dwellers and tourists alike, such as Vajdahunyad Castle, Saint Stephen’s Basilica, Hungarian National Gallery, Kunsthalle and the Castle Garden Bazaar.

This year, Musical Budapest features new locations and new musical themes. Much attention will be given to the “coffee house feeling”, which always played an important role in the cultural life of the city: the “nostalgic Pest nights” will be evoked in several locations. Millenáris Park, the garden of the Hungarian National Museum and the dry ditch stage at the Castle Garden Bazaar will offer several programmes for children and youngsters.

Musical Budapest is organized by the Budapest Festival and Tourism Centre with the support of the Municipality of Budapest and the Prime Minister’s office. The concept for the concert series was created by Béla Götz; the event’s art director is Nándor Götz.
