The approximately 150-year Turkish rule in Buda can be spotted in several places in the Castle District. During the capturing siege of Buda in 1686 the last pasha, Abdurrahman died at age 70 and his tomb can be seen on the Anjou promenade, behind the Museum of Military History. His epitaph reads, “He was a heroic enemy, let him rest in peace.”
