CAMOMILE FLOWERS FROM THE GREAT PLAIN

CAMOMILE FLOWERS FROM THE GREAT PLAIN

In Hungary, camomile as a herb was first mentioned by Péter Meliusz Juhász, a professor of Debrecen, in his book Herbarium published in Kolozsvár in 1578.

He described camomile as a herb that relieved spasm and cholagogue effect. However, in popular medicine, the healing and beneficial effect of camomile had been known centuries earlier.

It grows wild on the whole territory of Hungary, mostly on the saline areas of the Great Plain, but it also grows extensively on the saline soil of Tisza region, known as saline patches.
