Matthias Church Exclusive Tour After Closing Time

When the sturdy gate closes after the last visitor, the impressive grounds of Matthias Church open up before us. We can enter, contemplate, and even peek into places where others cannot.

We can experience ever-memorable, intimate and special moments in one of the most famous buildings in Budapest and the country. The past surrounds us, but we also meet the present: who would have thought it, but this almost 800-year-old church is also the most modern sacral square in Budapest. Medieval columns and theatrical techniques, a 19th century stained glass window and a modern high altar are all at home here. They all tell the story of the church: of splendid weddings, distinguished visitors, coronations and funerals. And we listen to them and to the chimes that have accompanied the church and its people throughout their lives, guiding us on this exclusive journey through time.

Meeting point:

1014 Budapest, at the intersection of Úri utca and Szentháromság utca – at the Hadik András equestrian statue

End point of the walk:

1014 Budapest, Szentháromság tér 2.
