Watch the planes from 120 meters up in the sky!

On 20 August, we celebrate the nation’s birthday with all-day events, traditional entertainment and a fireworks display in the evening, making this the perfect day to immerse yourself in the city’s vibrant atmosphere. But what happens on the previous day and how does the SkyDeck observation terrace enter the picture?

The festive program on the 20th kicks off in the morning with a parade of helicopters, military and civilian aircraft, paratroopers, formations, and low flyovers above the Danube.

This 30-minute air show is best viewed up close from the riverbank between the Chain and Margaret Bridges. One day earlier, however, it’s worth aiming as high as possible in the early afternoon, and the MOL Campus SkyDeck observation terrace is the perfect location with its 360-degree panorama of the city.

Weather permitting, the air traffic over Budapest is at its peak during the rehearsal day for the airborne units, so anyone scaling the tower at this time can watch the planes preparing for the festive parade from a unique perspective.
