Pinktober with Bolt: the “Women for Women” category is now live in the taxi app

As part of the Pinktober initiative, passengers can now access the “Women for Women” category, which allows female riders to choose female drivers for their trips. With this new category, we are responding to user demand while offering female driver partners the opportunity to access new earning opportunities. The service launches in October, during Pinktober – Breast Cancer Awareness Month – underlining Bolt Hungary’s commitment to supporting and empowering women.

How does it work?

The category appears in the Bolt app alongside the existing ride options. To use it, a one-time profile verification is required: passengers need to upload an official ID and a selfie, which will be verified by the system. After this, female passengers can order rides from the category at any time, knowing they will be matched with a female driver.

Why are we introducing it?

Many female passengers told us they would prefer to choose a female driver if the option were available. Now, we’re making this possible. As Márk Terstyánszky, Managing Director of Bolt Hungary, explained:
“With the launch of the ‘Women for Women’ category, we are creating new opportunities for both female drivers and passengers. This is another step towards making Bolt a more personalized experience for everyone.”

Where is it available?

The new category will first be available in Budapest and Pécs. Alongside the capital, Pécs was chosen because it has the highest proportion of female drivers among Hungary’s regional cities, making it an ideal place to roll out the service.

Pinktober and supporting women

The launch of the service is closely tied to Pinktober, the international month dedicated to the fight against breast cancer. In cooperation with the Mellrákinfo Association, Bolt will organize educational programs on the importance of women’s health and prevention. Passengers will also find pink ribbons and informational materials in the cars of female drivers.
