Magic up close – Harry Potter exhibition in Szentendre

There are few stories that can evoke the same childlike wonder again and again across generations. The world of Harry Potter is one such story. Now, it is coming to life not on the pages of a book or on the big screen, but in a truly accessible, interactive space – just a stone’s throw from Budapest, on the outskirts of Szentendre.

Harry Potter™: The Exhibition is not just an exhibition, but a journey through time: it takes you through twenty rooms featuring iconic locations from the magical world, while you walk among original movie props, costumes, and sets.

The experience becomes personal as soon as you enter: you receive a magnetic wristband, choose a house, and select a patronus and wand – from this point on, the exhibition reacts to you.

We collect points for our Hogwarts house, solve tasks, and truly become part of the story.

The magic behind the scenes

The exhibition’s material is particularly exciting for film fans. You can see up close the costumes and props that were used during filming – from hand-sewn buttons and lace trims to tiny details that seem like „mistakes” but were actually created deliberately.

The exhibition is not only based on the Harry Potter films, but also explores the world of Fantastic Beasts™ and the stage production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

The rooms are organized thematically: relics arranged according to Hogwarts houses, wands from Ollivander’s shop, iconic objects—the Sorting Hat, the Triwizard Cup, the Horcruxes—are all so close that we almost instinctively slow down our steps.

Interactive Hogwarts lesson

One of the greatest strengths of the exhibition is that it not only allows you to look, but also to play. You can brew potions, plant mandrakes (yes, they scream), summon your patronus, chase bogeymen, and even try your hand at Quidditch.

The scale of the sets, the sounds, the lights, and sometimes even the smells make you feel as if you have actually arrived at a Hogwarts class.

Particular emphasis has been placed on photography: Hagrid’s hut, the Dursley family’s „room” under the stairs, and the pink office of the Ministry of Magic are all places where it is difficult to resist capturing the moment.
