Shooting stars and Chairlifts free of charge thanks to the Budapest Card

The Night of Chairlifts will be hosted for the first time in Hungary on 28 July 2018, during which visitors can go on chairlift rides beyond regular opening hours at four domestic sites and watch shooting stars from hilltop vantage points.

The organizers chose a date when a chairlift ride can yield a special experience, allowing visitors to witness the Piscis Austrinids meteor show in clear weather.

In Budapest, the Zugliget Chairlift will be open to visitors seeking to take part in this unique experience. Visitors with a valid Budapest Card can enjoy chairlift rides free of charge for the duration of the event, just as on other days and during regular opening hours.

For safety reasons, the Zugliget Chairlift will be illuminated during the event, whilst the lights of the Erzsébet lookout on János hill will be turned off so that they wouldn’t hinder those seeking to admire the shooting stars.
