Bubbly & confetti: New Year’s Eve in Budapest

Budapest offers a variety of entertainment options all year long, but for those who decide to see in the new year in the city, it has an even more buzzing and vibrant party atmosphere in store. If you are saying goodbye to the end of the year in the Hungarian capital, you’re in the right place: here’s a recap of some of the venues where great entertainment is guaranteed.

NEW YEAR’S EVE AQUA PARTY / AQUAWORLD

Swap out the glittery dress for a bathing suit or the jacket and tie for a pair of trunks to spend New Year’s Eve at a one-of-a-kind water party! Aquaworld will put on a fire and laser show, a live concert, sauna sessions, fireworks at midnight, and much more excitement. Families are also welcome: Bongo Kids Clubs will look after the little ones while the grown-ups are having fun.

EVERNESS FESTIVAL / MAGNET COMMUNITY HOUSE

One of the most conscious, strictly alcohol-free New Year’s Eve parties in the country will deliver special year-end and beginning-of-the-year workshops, self-awareness and dance events, vegan dinner, yoga sessions and concerts for guests.

TROTTING TRACK NEW YEAR’S EVE PARTY / KINCSEM PARK

The traditional Trotting Track New Year’s Eve Party will take place at Kincsem Park, where spectators can enjoy exciting greyhound and horse races.

AQUARIUM NEW YEAR’S EVE CELEBRATION / AKVÁRIUM KLUB

Expect to be transported back to the time of disco balls and tape recorders if you celebrate at Akvárium Klub on Erzsébet Square. One of the most successful party series, featuring the music of the 90s and 2000s will deliver our favourite tunes on New Year’s Eve, too.

ST. ANDREA WINE AND SKYBAR NYE PARTY / ST. ANDREA WINE AND SKYBAR

Those who like to see the New Year in style would probably enjoy celebrating at the St. Andrea Wine and Skybar.  The exclusive NYE menu offered by the restaurant includes a selection of delicacies waiting to be savoured, from duck liver to saddle of venison and truffle.

NEW YEAR’S EVE GALA CONCERT BY THE BERLIN PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA / URÁNIA CINEMA

The Hungarian capital also has something to offer classical music fans even on New Year’s Eve. The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra’s concert will be conducted by an old friend of the orchestra’s, Daniel Barenboim, who will not only take the baton but also perform as a soloist in one of Mozart’s brilliant musical works, the Piano Concerto No. 26 in D Major. The orchestra will also perform four famous pieces by the amazingly stylish composer Maurice Ravel.

+1 PRE-NYE PARTY – KOLLEKTIV TURMSTRASSE / AKVÁRIUM KLUB

Also worthy of note is the German double act, Kollektiv Turmstrasse’s pre-New Year’s Eve party. The well-known and groundbreaking artists of minimal techno are sure to provide party-goers with high quality music and guaranteed entertainment.
