In the footsteps of the Romans – 1.

Between the 1-4th centuries the Western  side of the river (and the country) was part of the Roman Empire. The name of the province was Aquincum, today’s Old Buda (Óbuda) has a lot of Roman ruins from this period. There used to be a civilian and a military town there with Roman baths, amphiteatres and many other buildings. The Aquincum Museum has many of the archeological findings.
