Public transport in festive mood

During the Advent season, BKV attracts passengers with various festive services. The Christmas tram, the most popular vehicle of the Advent season and New Year, has now been running for more than ten years. Inside the carriages, resplendent by several thousand LEDs, one can admire the festively dressed Budapest from behind the windows spotted with snowflakes.
This year, for the first time, the Danube is likewise flooded with light thanks to the boats in festive décor, running on routes D11 and D2. During daytime, the Advent atmosphere is evoked by the interior decoration and when night is coming, on BKV’s Christmas boats, thousands of small lamps offer an unforgettable sight.
This is the fifth year in which BKV also features a bus in a festive costume. The vehicle with a Santa Claus-themed design attunes passengers to the holidays during their everyday transport. Besides the special exterior and interior, another particularity of the bus is that the alphabetic and numeric characters on its registration plate add up to the arrival day of Santa Claus, the vehicle registration number being DPI206.
