The Night of the Cafés is a 2-day event taking place at 12 venues in Veszprém and 10 at Lake Balaton on 25-26 September 2022.

The cafés will be presented in a uniform manner but respecting their individual gastronomic and cultural character. The programmes (many internationally successful) will focus on past and contemporary Hungarian writers and poets. Organised in English, they will offer an insight into the lives of artists who hail from the region and who created their art, whether in former times or today, to showcase the diversity of our European heritage.

The event will devote attention to the hundred-year anniversaries, compiling the shows’ programme in a multidisciplinary approach, some of them presented in foreign languages. An important consideration is ensuring that the programmes’ elements can travel to the VEB 2023 European Capital of Culture twin cities and the existing and future ECoC partner settlements.
