On July 4, the water will once again take center stage in Budapest: at the 11th Budapest SUP Festival, hundreds of stand-up paddle enthusiasts will paddle along the capital’s most spectacular stretch of the Danube. The tour, which runs from Római-part to Kopaszi-gát, offers not only a sporting experience but also a truly unique sightseeing tour of the city. Organized by Kiteline SE for the eleventh time, the event has grown to become Hungary’s best-known and largest SUP festival. Participants set off from Római-part, then paddle under Budapest’s iconic bridges to reach Kopaszi-gát, while the city’s panorama unfolds before them from a completely new perspective. One of the event’s biggest draws is that it’s not just for experienced paddlers. The organizers also welcome beginners, who can take part in a technical training session before the start, so even those just getting acquainted with the sport can confidently take to the water. The festival is also popular as a family-friendly event: children under 12 can complete the tour on a board with a parent, while those aged 12–16 can do so independently under appropriate parental supervision. Even those without their own equipment don’t have to miss out on the experience, as SUP boards and all necessary accessories are available for rent on-site. Over the past decade, the Budapest SUP Festival has become a true community event, bringing together families, groups of friends, recreational athletes, and professional paddlers year after year. The view of Budapest from the water, the experience of passing under the bridges, and the special atmosphere of paddling together make the event memorable every year. Advance registration is required to participate; further information on registration, equipment available for rent, and participation requirements can be found on the event’s official websites. 1/2 ×
