In February, we built our monthly offer around a new flavor combination: Hot Honey, or the meeting of honey and chili pepper. It may seem unusual at first, but that’s exactly why it works so well: it has a sweet and slightly spicy, round, deep flavor that goes perfectly with juicy burgers. This was the basis for February’s star attraction, the Hot Honey burger. We stacked a beef patty, melted cheddar cheese, honey mustard sauce, grilled bacon, dill pickles, and romaine lettuce, then topped it all off with Hot Honey. The taste experience starts off sweet, then turns subtly spicy, while retaining the classic, juicy vibe throughout. Chili honey doesn’t just work in burgers. In the case of Hot Honey loaded fries, the fries are topped with cheese sauce, feta cheese, fresh spring onions, and, of course, the honey-spicy sauce. This is the kind of side dish that will live in our memories forever after just a few bites. For those who want to try it as a dip, there’s Hot Honey dip: a balanced, harmonious blend of chili pepper and honey that works well with fries, burgers, or even on its own. At Smash Bamba on Deák Square, the monthly special is also available in a flat version. Here, the Hot Honey burger is made with a smashed beef patty, American cheddar, honey mustard sauce, grilled bacon, dill pickles, and romaine lettuce. It has the same sweet and spicy character, but in a crispier, more direct form, enclosed in a potato bun. And to finish off the flavors with a classic: wherever the shake is available, the Somlói milkshake awaits you in February. Chocolate, vanilla, and walnut flavors come together in it, evoking the well-known Somlói atmosphere. It’s not Hot Honey, but that’s exactly why it can be a good counterpoint to the spicier dishes. The essence of our February monthly offer is to show that sweet and spicy are not opposites, but can work very well together. If you like flavors that don’t go in one direction, but playfully alternate, then this month is for you. 1/5 ×
