A special exhibition showcasing heart shapes discovered on the streets of Budapest is open until Valentine’s Day – free of charge. Some people look for major attractions when sightseeing. Viktória Kellermann, however, has been paying attention to the details over the past decade: she has been hunting for heart shapes in every corner of Budapest. The fruits of the photographer and translator’s labor can now be admired at Massolit Books & Café on Nagy Diófa Street. The exhibition #budapestszivetkeresem – az első 10 év (I’m looking for hearts in Budapest – the first 10 years) captures moments that hurried passersby don’t even notice. The exhibited photos show heart shapes in the most unexpected places: in rain puddles, graffiti, street decorations, or even natural forms such as leaves. Viktória’s work is both an artistic project and a visual diary. Hundreds of photographs have now been displayed on huge cork boards, allowing visitors to browse through ten years of work at once. The photo exhibition does not stop at the visual experience. Texts by Eszter Décsy, Lóránt Kabai, and Károly Szarka—three contemporary artists—are also displayed in the exhibition space, placing what is seen in a literary context. The exhibition will be open until February 14, Valentine’s Day. The closing week will be particularly eventful. On February 12, visitors are invited to a bilingual guided tour, which will be available in both Hungarian and English. On February 14, there will be a grand closing event, where participants can choose from a variety of free programs: Creative collage workshop Joint walk in search of the hearts of Budapest Guided tour of the exhibition Additional surprise programs What is Massolit? The fact that this exhibition is being held here is no coincidence. Massolit on Nagy Diófa Street is one of Budapest’s most versatile cultural spaces. It specializes primarily in English-language books—if you’re looking for foreign literature, this is the place to go. It is also a café, where guests can enjoy high-quality espresso, breakfast dishes, and desserts. It functions as a gallery, providing a platform for emerging Hungarian and foreign artists to showcase their work, which is also available for purchase. V There is also a garden area – if you want to escape the noise of the city center, you will find a quiet, green corner here for reading or chatting. It also functions as a community center – literary programs, book presentations, music evenings, film clubs, and craft workshops are regularly organized here. 1/3 ×
