description One of the most beautiful buildings of Classicist line of mansions on the World Heritage protected Andrássy Avenue was built by Ferenc József Landauer burgess of Pest who had it built as a summer residence at the end of the 1800s. During refurbishments even the garden designer could not be allowed a free reign, a twenty meter tall tree had to be saved for following generations. The listed building was opened during the spring of 2004 and ever since it has provided a home for entertainment of hundreds of companies. To look at and see beautiful forms is tantamount to collecting. The Collection of the Kovács Gábor Art Foundation is so multifarious, it is virtually impossible to present it in a single space. Only when the view is multiplied—when different colours, patches, shapes and forms are flashed—can we gain an insight into what is a vividly variegated collection. This also means that what you can see on the walls and in between them at our new exhibition are only nodes on the many strands of the KOGART Collection. Following the former display, which selected from the private collection of the founder, Gábor Kovács, the emphasis now shifts towards contemporary works, and the highlighting of the innovative approach KOGART seeks to represent. The aim is always the same: collect and safe keep the outstanding pieces of Hungarian contemporary art.
